Overhand Throw

Overhand throw involves releasing an object forcefully with the hands. it is a type of ballistic skill. The skill of overhand throw is found in many sports such as baseball, cricket and basketball. It is the same movement pattern as a serve in tennis or volleyball. It is a good practice to raise the non-throwing arm and point it in the direction of a target in the preparation phase, then lower it when throwing.

Underhand Throw

Underhand throw is used for short distances, particularly when accuracy is important. It is the same movement pattern as a an underhand rolling or a volleyball underhand serve. This skill is characterised by an upward trajectory of the ball. Therefore, in order for for kids to recognise this throw, we will use the cue word of ‘rainbow’, to allow them to picture how an underhand throw will look like.
